Golf Card Game – A lot of people like playing golf, but not everyone can go play the full game. There’s a card game called Golf that you can play at home to have fun like in golf.
How do you play the Golf card game? In a version with four cards, each player gets 4 cards that they put in a square without looking at them. Players pick a card from the pile in the middle of the discard pile. When someone decides to stop and adds up their card scores, the person with the lowest score wins.

Playing The Golf Card Game: Quick Guide
Number of players: 2-6

Materials:
A standard deck of playing cards
Discard pile
Stockpile
Setup:
- Shuffle the deck of cards and deal 9 cards face down to each player.
- Each player arranges their cards in a 3×3 grid, without looking at them.
- The remaining cards are placed face down in the centre of the table to form the stockpile.
Object of the game:
The object of the game is to score the least number of points.
Game Setup
Now that we know the basics let’s prepare to play the game. Most people use the “our card” rule, and we’ll talk about that here.
Get your deck of cards and mix them up. Each player gets four cards, given out one at a time to start.
After the cards are given out, please put them in a square shape with their faces down. Put the rest of the cards face down on the table. Turn over the top card and place it next to the pile to start the discard pile.
Every player can look at the two cards closest to them once but not again during the game. And just like that, you’re ready to start playing.
How Many Decks of Cards Do You Need:
Usually, you need just one deck for the game. But if you have a lot of people playing, you might want to use two decks.
Can 5 People Play the Golf Card Game:
Yes, you can play with 2 to 8 players. For 5 players, each person gets four cards, and they’re arranged in a square with the faces down.
Gameplay of Golf Card Game
Golf card game is for two or more players, in which the object is to score as little as possible, as in the sport of Golf. The game can be played with a standard 52-card deck or with a double deck of 104 cards.
Here is how you can play the game:
On your turn, you must either draw the top card of the stock or the top card of the discard pile.
If you draw a card from the stock, you can replace any one of the 6 cards in your layout with the drawn card.
If you draw a card from the discard pile, you can only replace a card in your layout with the same rank as the drawn card.
You cannot look at the cards in your layout until you have replaced all 6 of them.
The game ends when one player has all 6 of their cards face up.
Scoring:
The scoring is as follows:
- Ace: 1 point
- 2: -2 points
- 3-10: Face value
- Jack: 10 points
- Queen: 10 points
- King: 0 points
The player with the lowest score wins the game.
Winning The Gold Card Game:
When you add up the scores on your cards, the player with the fewest points is the winner.
What if Two People Have the Same Score:
If two players have the same score, they will pick cards to decide who goes first in the next round. The one with the lowest scorecard gets to start.
Variations:
Eagles, Bogies, Birdies, and Holes in One:
This version uses golf terms. Here’s what they mean in the card game:
- Birdie: When you have 3 cards of the same kind and a King, you get a Birdie, which gives you -1 point.
- Eagle: If you have 4 cards of the same kind, you earn an Eagle, giving you -2 points.
- Bogie: You can use Bogie to peek at a card in your layout, but it adds 3 points to your score. You can use it multiple times, but each time adds more points.
- Hole-in-one or “Ace”: If you get all four Kings, you score -10 points. Some people use Aces instead of Kings, which is also okay.
- Babar: Instead of playing regular Golf, two players exchange one card. The game ends when a player reaches 77 points over several rounds. When a card is exchanged, the player can either look at it and put it face down or say “locked” and put it face down. A locked card can’t be swapped again. A player can say “Babar” when the opponent exchanges. The received card is locked and placed face up. Play continues.
In this version, Jacks, Queens, and Kings score zero unless there are 2 of them, then they count as 15 points. Players add up their card points except the one with the lowest points, who gets 0 points.
